Chilliwack Prospera Centre located in Chilliwack British Columbia completed the change over from Metal Halide lighting to Aqualuma’s LED High Bay solution. This gave them approximately a 65% savings in power consumption while increasing their light levels by double. In addition to this, they have not had to use their air conditioning because of the huge reduction in heat generation. They also discovered that because of the heat reduction, they are using only two of the three ice plants electric compressors. They will now see reductions in energy costs for lighting, air conditioning and ice plant generation.
Further to this, we increased the light levels in the larger arena from approximately 700 lux to between 1480 and 1700 lux which are Olympic standard lighting levels. The Aqualuma LED High Bay’s were also installed with a full DMX Wireless Lighting Control system. This allows the operators to take full control of their lighting and create lighting themes such as strobing, chasing or any combination of on/off, dimming or theatrical type programs. This is an important value add to their lighting and gives them the opportunity to bring in other revenue producing events other than hockey.
Both the City of Chilliwack staff and the Junior Hockey Club players and management are extremely satisfied with the lighting change over and are excited to start their new hockey season and showcase their building.
